What if two people tap Accept?
Only one person has a live Accept link. NextUp does not text two people the same opening at once. The first Accept books the time. The next person is texted after No thanks, or after 15 minutes with no Accept. Two taps on a link that is already booked still say "You're booked". A tap while the booking is being saved says to try again in a moment. A taken or expired link says the offer is no longer available.
What does each tap show?
A location holds one live Accept link. The person who was just texted is the only one who can take that opening.
- The first Accept books the time, and the page says "You're booked".
- A later tap of that same link still says "You're booked".
- A tap while the booking is still being saved says "Something went wrong" and "Please try again in a moment."
- A taken slot or an expired link says "This offer is no longer available" and "The slot may already be taken or the link expired."
The second person does not get a text until the first person passes or the 15 minutes end. They then get a new Accept link of their own.
Frequently asked questions
Can two people both have a live Accept link?
No. NextUp texts one person at a time for a location. The next person is texted only after No thanks, or after 15 minutes with no Accept. That new text replaces the earlier Accept link. A newer cancellation on the same location also replaces the live link, and the earlier one stops working.
What does a second tap show?
If they already booked, a second tap of that same Accept link still says You're booked. If a second tap arrives while the booking is still being saved, the page says something went wrong and to try again in a moment. If the time is already taken or the link expired, the page says this offer is no longer available.
