How do people join the waitlist?
The waitlist is a tag on people who want an earlier appointment when someone cancels. It is not an email list for a product launch. Run the Add to waitlist action on the contact. That applies the waitlist tag and saves when they joined. NextUp texts the person who has been waiting longest and has a phone number. The person who just cancelled is skipped for that opening.
How do you add someone?
The usual tag name is waitlist. Use the Add to waitlist action rather than typing the tag by hand, so NextUp knows who has been waiting longest.
- Open the contact who asked for an earlier time.
- Run the Add to waitlist action so the tag is applied and the join time is saved.
- Keep a phone number on the contact.
- Leave the tag on until they are booked, or take it off if they should leave the list.
What if I type the tag myself?
A tag you type on the contact does not save a join time. Those people sort behind everyone who has one. Running the action again, when they already have the tag and a join time, does not move them up or back. If you take the tag off and run Add to waitlist again, they join the end of the line.
Someone with no phone number is not texted. If the only people on the tag are the person who cancelled, or people with no number, nobody gets a text.
